A fire broke out during construction of a new villa complex in Uluwatu, Bali.  Sparks from a welder landed on the thatched roof of the villa next door. The wind quickly blew the fire from rooftop to rooftop burning around 35 villas. Firefighters did all they could to stop the blaze, but it was about 20-25 min round trip to refill their trucks with water. With the wind conditions and the thatched roofs, it was impossible to gain control and contain the fire. Lucky for everyone, there was a break in the landscape. The pool stopped the fire from spreading to Single Fin and the other warungs below Blue Point Villas. No one was hurt in the fire; however, it left 150 employees jobless and destroyed many of the visitors possessions. While currently open in a limited capacity, the management team at Blue Point Villas has plans to repair the damage and rebuild over the course of the next year.
